Last week at Founders Common

SF Tues Founders Run
HEALTH NYC runs now include pre-run stretches led by Paula, founder of women's hormone health startup, Right Balance. In San Francisco, 20+ founders gather weekly at the Ferry Building for runs that have become the highlight of many members' Tuesday mornings.
NYC Tues Founders Run
BUSINESS Conversations across our runs evolved into valuable exchanges about AI implementation strategies and creating content that converts using emerging tools. One founder shared they've been working 80-hour weeks, making these moments of connection and idea-sharing especially valuable. These organic discussions reinforce our belief that the best business partnerships form through authentic relationships.
BK Tues Founders Run
RELATIONSHIPS Our NYC Cinco de Mayo celebration featured mocktails from Moosa edible tea, bringing together founders from as far as Princeton, NJ seeking like-minded connections. Brooklyn's run launch, led by Haley Kennedy, responded to popular demand with great conversations and a surprise puppy visitor. Singapore's community continues thriving with founders consistently running together before co-working at OpenSourced.

Founders Social in NYC (SF coming soon!)
Superpower is a next generation wellness platform that gives you access to advanced health testing, tracking of 100+ biomarkers, and a private medical team, all for just $499/year.
If you’re doing the math, that’s like a coffee a week and 4,000x cheaper than whatever Bryan Johnson’s doing.
We’re big fans of Max and everything the team’s built. As are Forerunner (who just led their $30M Series A) and 150K people on their waitlist. Luckily for you, Founders Common has a fast pass to skip the entire line if you signup this week.
P.S. If you’re one of the first 30 signups, we’ve got a free goodie for you: the world’s healthiest hoodie by Superpower (sold out online and usually $229 each).

Founder Feature: Max Marchione
Co-Founder @ Superpower
For Max Marchione, the hype around health and wellness is more than just a passing fad. As a 2x founder, he knew all about the hustle culture of startups that deprioritizes health. Then came a health crisis that really put it all into perspective.
After 10 years of misdiagnosis and surgeries, 20+ doctors and advice to medicate for life, he founded Superpower, a modern wellness platform with a vision to morph consumer health into something more preventative than reactive and more personal than clinical.
Since launching last year, Superpower’s built a 150K-person waitlist and is coming off a new $30M Series A led by Forerunner and other investors like Susa Ventures, Venessa Hudgens, Steve Aoki & others.
Brian caught up with Max to chat about the founding story of the viral wellness platform, the evolving world of consumer health and the future of founder wellness.

Q: You went through a pretty serious health crisis before Superpower. Can you tell us more about that and how it inspired the platform’s origin story?
A: From a young age, I struggled with health issues. It would take me hours to fall asleep every night and despite seeing over 20 doctors, undergoing surgery and being prescribed lifelong medication, no one could work out what was going on.
I ended up exploring the world of health myself, reading papers and experimenting with tools like the Gen 1 Oura Ring in 2016 and continuous glucose monitors in 2017 (a time when using these devices was considered weird). I realized that healthcare should be used not just for treating illness, but for maximizing human potential.
At some point, I finally found a doctor who got to the root of my health problems and–in doing so–had an important realization: there’s a huge gap between the cutting-edge healthcare available to the elite (like Jeff Bezos) and what the average person receives. Since then, I’ve believed that everyone–not just a privileged few–should have access to this kind of care, and that’s what we’re building at Superpower.

Q: How much did hustle culture in the startup world contribute to you wanting to start this?
A: I’ve always believed that if you improve your health, you improve your life. I’ve certainly found that being in good health allows me to do more things in the world: to be smarter, more energetic, more present and show up better for everyone around me.
Q: The digital health world has gone through what feels like a massive transformation over the last few years. What do you think the future of the space looks like and where does Superpower fit into it?
A: I believe a few things are true:
Everyone will have an AI doctor inside a super app.
People will have sovereignty over their health data and decisions.
Chronic disease will become optional.
Cancer, heart disease and Alzheimer’s will be relics.
The future isn’t just about living longer. It’s about enhancing human life.
Human enhancement will be a biological imperative.
AI and algorithms will know us better than we know ourselves.
Superpower is building the super app to make this real.

Q: You’re working on a new health project for founders that resonates a lot with us here at FC. Want to give the community a little sneak peek?
A: We’re launching the Founder Health Coalition–a movement to make founder health impossible to ignore. You can check out our launch here.
Founders are burning out, breaking down and getting dismissed by a system built for sickness, not performance. 87.7% face mental health issues. Many deal with chronic fatigue, metabolic dysfunction or misdiagnosis–silently.
The Founder Health Coalition is a new playbook. A movement for builders who believe peak performance starts with peak health. Because the companies that change the world are led by founders who refuse to compromise health along the way.

Speed round. Give me some quick takes here.
Q: What’s in your wellness stack?
A: A lot! Check out maxmarchione.com/protocol.
Q: Better beaches: California or Australia?
A: Australia. Not even close!
Q: Over/under: Bryan Johnson’s lifespan?
A: Over, no matter what the number is. He has the money to afford frontier biotech when it comes out.
Q: Favorite cheat meal?
A: Good pasta (al dente is a must) and red wine.
Q: Best way to touch grass?
A: Walking in nature with friends whilst technophilosophizing.

New to Founders Common?
Here’s a bit about us.
More friend group than Slack networking circle, we’re a third-space social community made up of top founders, builders and creatives across the startup world.
We got sick of the transactional networking happy hours and highly-gated “need to know someone” feel of the startup world, so decided to build something totally different: an escape from the chaos startups for builders, by builders. To this day, all of our teams across 5 global clubs are still made up of startup founders and operators just like you.
Together, we believe in a few core things:
01 Consistency creates community. One-time networking events rarely build lasting relationships. Hanging out at with others at weekly events creates a foundation for something deeper.
02 Smaller is better. Nobody likes walking into a room of 100+ business-card-passing strangers. Smaller, more curated groups create space to really get to know everyone in the room. When you see the same faces in a small room week over week, friendships flourish.
03 Barrier to entry. Whether you’re at our 7AM runs, cold plunge socials or a game night, showing up consistently to IRL events means something. You have discipline, commitment and a willingness to step outside your comfort zone.
04 Shared values connect us. We're building a community of people who value growing as a person, friend and entrepreneur. If we can get those types of people in the same room week over week, magic is bound to happen.
05 Our name is who we are. We’re not here to pitch our startups, get your LinkedIn profile or namedrop our investors. We’re here to connect as friends first and founders second.
Join us in building the best third-spaces for the startup world. Not only will you make new startup friends and transform your own journey, but you’ll also get access to exclusive events, chats, resources, perks and more.
Here’s to escaping the chaos and dreaming bigger with new friends.
